Weekend road trip to Oregon

I had a ball hockey tournament down in Beaverton, so we used that as a good excuse for a family road trip.

Friday

We left Seattle around noon and motored south as quick as possible to avoid the weekend traffic. We stopped into Longview, WA to let Walter run around an off-leash dog park as well as swim in the Cowlitz River.

On our way to our hotel in Hood River, we drove along the Washington side of the Columbia River. We crossed over the Bridge of the Gods. Looking forward to crossing this bridge on foot someday as part of a Pacific Crest Trail section hike.

We checked into our hotel in Hood River, got some takeout for the next day from Boda's Kitchen, and had dinner over at Ferment Brewing.

We walked Walt out to the end of The Hook and caught a great Columbia River gorge sunset.

Saturday

Saturday morning brought coffee, pastries, and more beach time for Walter. We packed up the car and headed over to Beaverton for an 11am start at the hockey rink.

Cold Snacks went 2-1 on the day, with another one goal loss to the Golden Eagles.

After hockey, we drove over to Mark and Chas' houseboat on the Columbia River, where they treated us to grilled burgers and hot dogs, as well clean towels so that we could rinse off in the river.

We hung out watching the Edmonton/Vancouver playoff game until about 8pm, before getting back on the road and heading home.

All in all, a great weekend with friends and family.
